Most of what I have posted at the Market Archive recently is available elsewhere, which does not give people much incentive to visit this site. I think I will try making occasional shorter posts with one company, industry, technology, or occurrence as the central theme.
It lets me write about some stuff that might go down quicker instead of writing for some of these other websites that have to have a certain scope, which takes a lot of time. That way I can get exposure to a lot of tickers as I read, and then use that knowledge when I write the bigger articles. I eventually would like this place to be my primary focus, but until it is bringing in the money that won’t happen.
It is all my fault though, because I have been so focused on scratching together a living that I have not been able to devote my time to potentially lucrative projects like research reports. After all this time I only have my sample one up. All the bad things in my AMD report ended up coming true. Glad I said caution even if I thought they could get out of the slump. The company has pulled out of the recent decline when they secured a lender of last resort.
Anyway, I will do my best to bring in some more content with interesting tidbits in shorter pieces, and then try to write the big stuff for the other sites. There are a few things to note though. When I write for the big sites I take a lot of time for word choice and style. For my quicker posts I want to focus on content and information.
Forgive me if I take a more conversational tone, but it will let me write without using too much time trying to create a masterpiece. I am not writing books here, though I have been advised to write a book at some point. So lets see if this new plan really takes off. My hope is that all the quick posts will let me be faster for the big sites too, and that way I can make the money I need and still devote time to the bigger projects of research reports.
I know I do not have many loyal readers yet, but I hope to change this. It won’t change if I am trumped on search engines by my own posts for Motley Fool or SeekingAlpha.
On a separate note, I think I want to start hiring myself out for writing assignments including editing and copywriting. Hopefully you will see some of that. Trust me I can write in many different kind of styles. I have a site for just riffing too at The Chaos Vault, which is a site I made just to unwind and write about things that I find interesting away from finance. I am reading up on all kinds of writing to improve my craft, and I hope if you need those services you will think of me.
