Blitz: Is BioShock Infinite as Big as GTA V?

This was an incoming search term, so I decided I would do a quick write-up. No, BioShock Infinite is not as big as GTA V. To gamers and followers of the games industry that is fairly obvious. Still right now we are in the eye of the storm, and it is easy to forget that BioShock is a franchise on the verge of death. I saw a recent estimate for the game to sell like 3 million units. That seems really low. I thought BioShock 2 was considered a disappointment (but not an all out failure), because it sold only 2 million units. I might be jaded by the numbers posted for Activision-Blizzard. StarCraft 2 Heart of the Swarm just came out. It is an awesome game.

BioShock’s sales will hinge on the reviews. I think gamers will wait on BioShock. It is not a no-brainer good game. There could be lots of problems, and despite the information we have gotten not too much is known about it. If the gameplay is the same, then I do not think the premise will save it. BioShock lacks that indie appeal that would allow a game with nothing new to really succeed. Heart of the Swarm mixed it up from Wings of Liberty with its roleplaying single player campaign, but I can understand why its reviews are slightly lower than Wings of Liberty. The campaign is shorter, because those damn evolution missions do not count. StarCraft 2 has become all about the multiplayer, but thats fine. I just want the story to continue.

Bioshock Infinite
BioShock Infinite needs to be a good game. That means fun gameplay and a kickass story. Do not tell me about the multiplayer bullshit. Not all games are fun to play as a group. What would be the point of playing BioShock Infinite multiplayer? It is not designed as a shooter. All you you people obsessed with multiplayer are ruining video games. God only first person shooters can make any money now, and its bloody awful. BioShock Infinite would be the stupidest multiplayer game on the planet. It is not designed with multiplayer in mind. It is an immersive, steam-punk gaming experience that is story and character driven. If it fails on delivering that immersive story driven game, then it will sell horribly. Even GTA V as a multiplayer game seems silly, because the world is so big you would not find each other. Also, it would just turn into utter anarchy as people blast each other into the next dimension. That game is about the open-world experience.

I do not have high hopes for BioShock Infinite. That stinks for Take-Two, because it really can make some quality games. I would like to see them create some new properties. Gaming is getting stale with the endless supply for first-person shooters. Just like how MMORPGs were all the rage when World of WarCraft first came out. Every property was getting a MMO treatment. I prayed for them to stop, and whoever listened decided to have the vast majority of them fail. I want a sequel to HellGate: London, but they wasted time creating multiplayer. They should have done it quicker and cheaper with just a single player, dark gothic story. The gameplay kind of blew though.

This was just some riffing about video games in general. There was a little something regarding BioShock, but we do not know how the dice will fall at this point.
